Bengals rally past Packers as Rodgers era begins
Football Betting Lines
08/12/2008 -
Green Bay, WI (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Aaron Rodgers era is officially
underway. The 2005 first-round pick out of California completed 9-of-15
passes for 117 yards with one touchdown and an interception as the Cincinnati Bengals held on for a 20-17 win over the Green Bay Packers.
Rodgers received a standing ovation from the Lambeau Field faithful when he
took the field for Green Bay (0-1). The new signal-caller endured a summer
full of drama with the chatter relative to Brett Favre's desire to return
after he originally called it quits at a tear-filled press conference last
winter.
With the trade of the future Hall-of-Famer to the New York Jets late Wednesday
night, Rodgers is now charged with leading the franchise and looked good in
the Packers' preseason opener despite the setback.
Kregg Lumpkin rushed for 36 yards on seven carries and caught two passes for
20 yards, including one touchdown for Green Bay.
Carson Palmer completed 5-of-9 passes for 33 yards and one touchdown for the
Bengals (1-0). Chris Perry collected 42 yards on 11 carries and scored a
touchdown. Chad Johnson had one reception for 10 yards.
Cincinnati dominated the second quarter, scoring 17 unanswered points. After
Palmer hooked up with Ben Utecht for a 14-yard touchdown, the Bengals grabbed
a 14-10 lead on Perry's six-yard TD run. A Shayne Graham 43-yard field
goal later in the frame gave the visitors a 17-10 lead at the half.
After a scoreless third quarter, Graham kicked a 32-yard field goal for a
20-10 Bengals lead early in the fourth. The Packers trimmed the margin to
20-17 on an 11-yard touchdown pass from Matt Flynn to Lumpkin, but it wasn't
enough.
The Packers led 10-0 after one quarter on Mason Crosby's 37-yard field goal
and Rodgers' 30-yard touchdown pass to James Jones.

Online Sportsbook odds for Stanley Cup
New York, NY – October 3, 2007 – The dress rehearsal is over! The NHL preseason has ended and now that fans have had a glimpse of what is to come it is time to hit the book! Stanley Cup odds are live at MySportsbook.com, the world’s largest online sportsbook and casino.
The Ottawa Senators and Detroit Red Wings remain on top of the odds charts after an impressive start in the preseason. Betting lines opened for both teams at 6-1 in June. Since then the Sens have fallen to 7-1 and the Red Wings are now caught in a pack including the defending champion Carolina Hurricanes, the San Jose Sharks and the Anaheim Ducks, all at 10-1.
MySportsbook.com has also posted props on each team’s point total for the regular season. The Senators lead the charge at 108.5 followed by the Ducks at 106.5. Detroit will attempt a repeat for the prize as the Red Wings are deadlocked with the Predators at 104.5 a piece. The temporary loss of highly touted rookie Evgeni Malkin puts a lot of pressure on the stick of assistant captain Sidney Crosby - his lowly Pittsburgh Penguins are listed at 71.5.
Even if bettors are not brave enough to put their money on the underdog, an early bet on the favorites at sportsbook.com tends to produce bigger payouts than a mid-season wager. Placing a $1,000 bet last summer on the Detroit Red Wings or Ottawa Senators would have paid out to $8,000 and $10,000 respectively, opposed to a $2,500 or $3,000 payout at the beginning of the playoffs.
